    Colonial cap-East Africa

    Hi Peter, I'd not noticed the stitching, I think you're right though. I think we see more Tropical Helmets (luckily for you :) ) because British, German or US servicemen brought them home after their service abroad. Africans wearing a fez or Tarbusch didn't leave Africa very often so neither...

    Colonial cap-East Africa

    As mentioned in the other thread, this was just a cover for the Tarbusch, so the floppiness is to be expected. I think the cover went over a wicker frame but I've never seen one up close to examine the frame. The detachable neckshade on this one is VERY ODD. They were usually sewn on. Here's an...

    M95 Off. Hessen Inf. Regt. Nr. 117

    Talking of the JR117 9.Komp added anchor, axe and pick insignia on the Wappen, does anyone know why this was awarded? Cheers Chris Photo from http://www.militaria-online.de/artikelnr_2160" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    cockades - help needed.

    I think the reason you've had no response here is because they don't look German mostly. The far left one with the anchor does not look like any German cockade I have seen (naval or otherwise). Naval cockades did not have anchors on them. The second left could be JzP 13, or a Prussian officer...

    Interesting UKTC... I'd seen that photo before but never noticed the M1910s, very odd. Haven't you also got a pic of a Turkish soldier wearing Austrian uniform? Cheers Chris

    Latest Find Forum purge

    A section I think would be handy is "Websites", where we could recommend related sites but also see when sites have been updated. People like me, Tony, Joe and Pierre who have our own sites could let readers know there's been updates in one handy section. What do you guys think? Cheers Chris
