Thanks very much, Brian and Alan. All the best, Michael

    Guard Train Battalion enlisted

I agree Bob. In addition to the rounded visor, the shoulder straps look like they are plain ( no cypher) and the sword is, I think the usual pattern for Train troops. Nice photo.

Thanks Bob. Those are very nice. I haven’t seen many of the other states either and am trying to resist the temptation of trying to complete a full set!

Bob NCO ersatz and private purchase (attached to a bayonet frog). I also attach a photo of my issued 1st squadron, which is a bit scruffy! All the best Michael

Garde Machinengewehr Abteilung Nr1 or 2

Thanks very much Sandy. The Machine Gun Abteilung had both mounted and foot troops, so the cavalry belt and sword here would indicate he was one of the mounted troops. You are correct that the foot troops would have worn the standard “Gott MIT Uns” buckle. All the best, Michael

Oldenburgischen Infanterie Regiments No. 91 - Dem scheiden kameraden

Glenn Thank you so much! You have solved two mysteries at once! I have two much smaller cups - shooting prizes - which came with the big cup. One is from IR 72 dated 1906 and the other is from Stendal, dated 1907. I will need to clean them and will then post photos. I had wondered whether...
