I would leave it as is messing with those splitpins is always a risk you do not know if the pins would loosen as wanted or if they break And even if you get lucky bending them back, squeese thight as it was ,you wil not sucseed in this Jonas

I have to stay with my first observation then, in my eyes it has never been a schirmutze but regarding to the stiffener it was mearly a little hunch for it i guess

I know its not always the case but in a chirmutze you often find a little metal stifner to give a schirmutze its high form is there in your case any sign of sutch a metal stifner being sewn in between Jonas
