    Another one gone quickly

I recommend that everyone take a look at this as you will never see another helmet like it again. M42 dragoon helmets of any kind are virtually non-existent today. The eagle plate is a remarkable work of art by itself. Note the extraordinary detail in the feather work for example.

M42 Helmet - Early Hessian Soldier Photo?

Whoahhh... well above 50 caliber! That's some serious firepower. I had never heard of the gun. Thank you! "the Central European hunting rifle was a forerunner of the American longrifle. Some Hessian troops hired to fight for Great Britain in the American War of Independence were armed with...

    Swedish M1845 Infantry OR helmet

Very nice! Nationalism fever of the 1848 Revolutions affected the northern nations. Considering the emerging military ambitions of Prussia and the Austo-Hungarian empire there were calls for Scandinavian unity despite the fact that the kings of those countries had their own factional issues...

M42 Helmet - Early Hessian Soldier Photo?

M42 helmet apparently used into the 1860's by Hessen-Kassel as it looks like a Rampant Hessian Lion with Sword on the helmet. That is some massive gun he has. It seems short for a musket. He's also got a fascine sword? So maybe a pioneer...

    Graduation gift to myself!

Nice piece! I was assigned to read All Quiet on the Western Front in High School and acquired a helmet like this one around the same time when there were a few more around from the veterans. It was my first experience with holding an object in my hands and getting that eerie sense of actually...

    M1850 Hannover helm

Right on Amy! Really one of the most dramatic helmets of any military unit ever. Eventually King George V sided with Austria and the Hanoverian army was issued an Austrian-style shako that never compared to the effect that this amazing helmet conveyed.

Advice on Saxon Guard project helmet.

Good one... I've never seen a complete pair of original tombac scales for sale as such. Some years ago, A of K knew a retired restorer for the Les Invalides museum and he was able to produce a set for me. Then later I purchased a set of "brass" heavy cavalry chin scales on Ebay. When I...

    1850 Baden Mannschaften Helmet Spike

Hey that's great. Thank you so much! I am glad to have the color photo of the artillery helmet. By the way Herbert clarified for me that the Baden M1850 fluted spike has five panels rather than the usual six that you see on officer and Bavarian models.

    1850 Baden Mannschaften Helmet Spike

http://imperialgermanuniforms.co.uk/badeninfhaube1849.htm It looks like the fluted spike was an issued spike so there are a few mysteries with some of these other helmets. The one with silver fittings and the plain spike maybe a Leib-Grenadier.
