Prussian M15 EM Complete - PRICE REDUCED

I purchase this helmet recently from an old collection. The previous owner bought the helmet sometime in the 1960s. It is a Prussian enlisted man’s Model 1915 grey trim pickelhaube. The helmet is complete and by all appearances, and as far as I can detect, is 100% original. The thing that drew...

Wappen and spike painted brass color

Hi "Pickelhauben," I'm looking forward to seeing your helmet with grey painted brass parts. That's another oddball thing. I wonder why somebody would have done that. I'm inclined to accept the theory that painting grey trimmed helmets brass color may have been a thing done post-armistice for...

Wappen and spike painted brass color

So something done in the immediate post-WWI period, 1919 right? That makes sense.

Wappen and spike painted brass color

Hi Jonas and Brian, Thanks. My thought about it is that this was a period-done thing. Maybe is was something done at a unit level to give all the pickelhauben a uniform appearance if some had grey and some brass fittings. The other possibility is that it could be something done by a doughboy or...

Wappen and spike painted brass color

Here's one that I found recently. The front plate and spike were painted brass color. This looks to have been period done. Has people seen this before? Opinions? Have we had discussion of pickelhauben with brass painted hardware? I briefly owned a M15 EM Prussian pickelhaube that had similar...

    J.Bambus Chin Strap Colour?

I've been working on my technique for making reproduction chinstraps. I made this one from original hardware and vintage leather. A main challenge is finding vintage leather of the right type.

Prussian Jäger zu Pferd Enlisted Man’s Pickelhaube

Hi Amy, 14 would be the lowest number found so far in this group. We can assume the numbering started at one and ended somewhere above 420. Does yours have a matching number on the back of the wappen? Mark D.

Prussian Jäger zu Pferd Enlisted Man’s Pickelhaube

I hadn’t noticed before but yes. # 168. Why was this done? I would think that if you were assembling a bunch of these helmets it wouldn’t be necessary to match each helmet to a unique plate. At any rate, interesting. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Prussian Jäger zu Pferd Enlisted Man’s Pickelhaube

This is another out-of-the-woodwork piece that I bought a few months ago. It was brought back from Europe by an American WWI vet. The person who sold the helmet to me had bought it from the vet in the 1960s. The helmet came to me missing one chinscale. By a small miracle a member of this forum...

Württemberg Pioneer 13th Pioneer, 119th or 123rd Grenadier Regiments Unteroffizier Eigenthum's Pickelhaube

Württemberg Pioneer 13th Pioneer, 119th or 123rd Grenadier Regiments Unteroffizier Eigenthum's Pickelhaube: I bought this beautiful, private purchase pickelhaube last spring. The seller was not a collector and had bought the helmet from a family member of the original owner. It’s an...

I'm looking for a tombak chinscale to complete this helmet. I have a few parts to trade including a chinscale for this type of helmet, but smaller (#7 going from left to right)

Hessian DR23/24 - Out of the Woodwork

Thanks all. My sources seem to be drying up and it's been a long time since I found anything really special, but I was thrilled to come across this piece. 911 Car: That's a very nice example too of this rare helmet.

Hessian DR23/24 - Out of the Woodwork

I purchased this recently from a person in Dallas,TX who is the grandson of a US WWII vet who served in the occupation forces post-war. The exact history of the piece has been lost, but we presume it was something the vet picked up while serving in Europe. It's the second Hessian piece (IR 115...
