PRUSSIAN OFFICER GUARD FIELD ARTILLERY SPIKE HELMET

It is nice. Pity about the Wappenadler missing its crown. :(

    Seeking advice on cuirassier helmet

Hi Frank: I agree with you regarding the spike. The spike of a Küraßier helmet should look like this: However, the Wappen looks like one of the M15 ferrous birds. I think it belongs to the Küraßier as the leather helmet appears to have Neusilber furniture and the widespread grommets...

    MG08/15

The T-Gewehr currently listed on GunBroker supports Steve's appraisal. Not counting sales and transfer taxes, which I was required to pay, the 08/15 was exactly 6.25% more.

    MG08/15

Again, many thanks, my friends. The machine gun was sold with a spare barrel and lock. Not all the numbers match, but I imagine these weapons often received critical field replacement parts to keep them functioning. I scanned the following page from a Martin B. Retting catalogue published in...

    Prussian Infantry M1915 Officer Pickelhaube

It's a stunning helmet, Ron. I'd be pleased as punch to have it in my collection. This may be of interest to you: http://pickelhaubes.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3805" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; … and this (from a Württemberg Arty in my collection): Chas

    MG08/15

I do indeed, Steve. Ohio Ordnance Works, from whom I purchased the Erfurt, have an approved range, and have invited me. It took roughly seven months for the transfer paperwork to be approved by the ATF, but it was worth the wait. Thanks!

    MG08/15

It may not be the ultimate Waffen collectible, but I'm darn happy with this complete and fully functional 1917 Gwf. Erfurt MG08/15, which I recently acquired: Anybody have an assault sling they're willing to part with? Chas

    Navy Visor Comparison

At the SOS, I was introduced to a collector who displayed comparable Axis and Allied uniforms together, i.e., Luftwaffe, AAF, RAF, etc. As I learn my way around Photoshop Elements 10, I thought it would be fun to tackle the same concept with WWI Navy peaked caps . Certainly, this illustrates...

    Property of an Oberarzt

Unlike British medals, which are named to their recipient, German orders and decorations are impossible to trace unless they survive with either the Urkunde (award document), or belong to a larger parade mounted group that can be researched--provided the combination of awards is unique...

    Peter Strasser's Schirmmütze

Well, not really… For collectors, the Kaiserliche Marine is an extremely tough nut to crack with respect to officer Kopfbedeckung (just ask Tony how long it took him to track down a representative example of a Seeoffizier Schirmmütze). Furthermore, the prices are astronomical –– far in excess...

M15 Uffz mit Portepee and Offz Kokarden

Thanks for looking, Larry and James. The more conventional pattern Offizier Kokarde for the Knopf 91 is removable. The example below also has a ferrous ring; this time with a silver wash applied (in lieu of zinc phosphate): Before acquiring the Preussen Offizer Kokarde with the...

M15 Uffz mit Portepee and Offz Kokarden

Undoubtedly, this presentation will be more show than tell, but I find these Kokarden variants interesting because the ferrous trim suggests adaptation to the requirements of M15 helmet construction and accoutrement. First on display is a set of Preußen Unteroffizier mit Portepee M91 Kokarden...
