I agree John. IMO, such a pipe might be impractical for a collector to display (I have one for the, "2. Garde-Ulanen-Regiment"), but like unit Bierkrüge they were used by the soldiers.

A Krätzchen wouldn't have a leather sweatband, but a Tellermütze would. That's a big difference, and I have a number of both in dunkelblau. Nonetheless, this one is not era.

My German club found 2 Berliner Weisse glasses. So, I tried a couple.... My father used to tell me whenever he was in Berlin on leave from the Luftwaffe he would enjoy a couple as well.

As I was looking at my badges I noticed subtle differences in the crown: in the cut-out and the top. This one only has a partial cut-out and top. I am sure there were numerous manufacturers of these, not unlike any other badge. I am not concerned with the one we are discussing above.

Thanks Bob! I have admired your great collection from earlier threads! Nice swords! My M1857 is marked to the 1st Dragoon Rgt. This bandolier and pouch are dated 1868 and marked to the 11th Dragoons.
