Prussian Enlisted Man Spike Helmet M/1867

Hello Steve, Well done, a beautiful M67, whose M71 eagle is not detectable from the outside. The important thing is that the M71 rear spine hasn't been added.

Bavarian pickelhaube just purchased help with markings

This helmet is an M1886 (cross-shaped base with a fluted peak, angular visor, large front plate) modified to the M1896 (side post). In 1914–15, it must have been a Feld-Artillerie helmet – it is similar to the Chevauleger (mounted) helmet. On the left is a Bavarian M1886/1916 F.A.R. helmet...

    Larcade

Me too!!! I’m lucky to be French, just like J-L Larcade and Didier Lainé. The Larcade is extraordinary in its coverage of the distinctive features of the regiments and the links between the active and Reserve-Landwehr regiments in relation to the active regiment to which they were attached. It...

    Zeb's wardrobe

I’d like to take this opportunity to show you the different types of covers of chimney, depending on the helmet’s design : ---M60 or Dragon with a very tall cross-shaped base. The screw is at the tip. ---Special edition for the people of Hesse: the lid is lower but has two steps, and the...

    Help Identifying this Pickelhabue

Helmet completely cobbled together. Practically nothing to recover. The rear spine isn’t good, nor is the tip; it looks like a tip of an M86 Bavarian welded onto an "adjustable" M15 base...

    Wanted; Helm M/1887 Preußen

Hello Tony, Superb M87!!! The M87 roundel in the colors of the Reich does not worry me. On the contrary, it is a sign that this helmet, reformed for 25 years, was brought out of its storage in 1914 to equip a Landsturm, a Landwehr or a Reservist.

Dragoner Regiment 11 mod. 1860 pickelhaube - untouched condition

Yes, Dragon M60 officer’s helmet. Before there was no Vaterland-Eagle Band (AKO 4 November 60) In 1867, the nut arches disappeared. The guilloché leather liner, with square crenels, was replaced by a sweatband and silk background around 1885.

    some Hessians!

Thank you! I've already had the opportunity to discuss some helmets in a dedicated post. The 'Prussian' types with a round-based spike and Teller marking are all marked RBAXVIII and/or a Hessian regiment, and the eyelets are directly drilled for the lion.

    some Hessians!

Encouraged by James, I gathered my family. I have the advantage of living not far from the Bois des Caures, where the first day of the attack on Verdun took place. Not forgetting my Shako from the Friedberg Landsturm Battalion. Sorry I can't show you a felt helmet... but I know Philippe...

    Help Needed… Again - Reuss M1895 Pickelhaube

Another issue. The Reuss eagle is a princely eagle marked "FÜRST". This eagle has five folds of the Vaterland headband, two per wing, and "Fürst" under the neck. Here, we have only one fold per wing, with "Koenig" under the neck. It's a Prussian Royal Eagle, the most common type to find, but...

    Help Needed… Again - Reuss M1895 Pickelhaube

With its tan leather liner, it is probably a composite M15 helmet, meaning it was assembled from disparate parts. As mentioned above, the spike is a modern reproduction, as are the star and the Reuss insignia.

    bursts in Kürassier

It would require laser welding, then surfacing to make it invisible. That seems complicated to me. As I said, it's best to leave it as is.

    Zeb's wardrobe

Awesome Zeb! Thank you for showing us what is inside your wardrobe!! Just a small detail. The Württemberg artillery helmet doesn't have a ball-like cret chimney, but rather one from an infantry grenadier's helmet. The lid is domed to accommodate a spike.
