Also got this at the same auction as the Pickelhaube Inkwell. One of my favourites now given my service with the RCA. My apologies for the dusty lint covered pictures with the whiter background - they were from the auction site. Much cleaner now.

Anyone have and good ideas for cutting slots in Adrian helmet shims? I tried previously and snapped the shim in two. I think I used a screwdriver blade at the ime.

Looks like an M1895 but weird how there is grey under the gold paint. I remember some discussion about gold wash/paint. Not an M1915 as no removable spike. So why the grey colour underneath in spots and the gold paint? Any thoughts? Multiple paint jobs by a collector? Chinstrap looks...

I too caught the Belgian Adrian bug. And sometimes miracles happen. Found this one two hours from my house so four hours of driving to pick it up last night but well worth it, as it only cost me $40 Canadian so about $30 USD. Sometimes you just get lucky. I wonder what hit the soldier on...
