Prussian 1860s Kürassier / Cuirassier Helmet

Very nice. That is the 1853 pattern which placed the front visor on the inside. The 1842 Adler is one of the earliest patterns, being cast from brass into a flat mould, then cleaned up and shaped to the helmet. Later modified in 1860 for the addition of the FATHERLAND Bandeau.

Quick question about Einjährig-Freiwilliger (One year volunteer) boards

The image above is of Baden, who were not allowed to wear their colours after the Baden Revolution of 1848/1849. The revolution was put down by Preussen and from that point Baden Troops had to wear Preussen colours of black white. All they got was their Wappen and Kokarden.

    Cuirassier helmet Identification

It appears to show the the crimp of the visor and screw post for chinscales. Smooth spike…I vote yes. M62/67. 20+ years of production until 1889.

Mmm…. . There were multiple Clothing Regulations, with left and rights arcs that soldiers of all ranks had to adhere to. Sandy has done a marvellous service by translating many. See Imperial German Helmet and Clothing Regulations However after 1918 soldiers could do as they wish with their old...

    Uhlan chapska with FWR Wappen??

You could look on Kaiser's Bunker for quick answers. My essay on Imperial German Uniforms lists all Regiments and Battalions, name, garrison, uniform, cuffs, collar, helmet. It's a reference site to help people to learn. All typed with two fingers. Screen shot below. There you see UR Nr.1, UR...

Helmet Saxon General of the General Staff

Astounding. As is typical. So Steve, is that what a Preussen General Staff helmet looks like? Like a Garde Dragoner but with silver chinscales and fluted spike? I have to be lazy and ask, as I am pinned down by three dogs right now and my Lainé is out of reach. Would love too see more of that...

    L Garde H R enlisted man issue

Congratulations Steve! It’s always nice to obtain published helmets. Most of my Third Reich helmets are published or come from friends. From friends by far is the best. Beautiful Pelzmütze. Years ago I wondered if that Garde Pelzmütze on p.98 had the proper Garde Fangschnur?

Tim those loops are post 1918 added. Possibly for a 1920s/30s wedding etc. which is very common.

    Leib Husaren Regiment 1

Jeff is that the article Eric Montant wrote? Could you email that to me please? The deBay cap is a modern novelty, but the Totenkopf in is one of the so-called “Berlin horde” of hundreds of these found in Berlin (according to the fable) in the 1970s supposedly WWII Wehrmacht cavalry or...

    Totenkopf Husaren

All true. A small addition if I may? Only Eigetumsstück Leib-Husaren Totenkopf have prongs that bend inside. Kammerstück Leib-Husaren Totenkopf have prongs that do not bend and do not penetrate the Pelzmütze.

    Totenkopf Husaren

Thierry I agree with all your comments. The two Totenkopf you show, are you are showing replicas? Or originals?
