    Before making a new mistake

That is a very good M1889 Metalhelm. Made from an 1854? It still has the rib on the back of the skull. I would throw my money at that seller.

    Help identifying uniform

Marvellous! Congratulations on having a photo of your ancestor in a prestigious Regiment. This photo is full of details of Albert, such as the lace on his collar and cuffs which are specific to 3.KR. This is a wonderful photo of a Kürassier in Waffenrock, and I’m sure more of the members here...

    Pelzmütze H.R. 4

Post #1 appears to be a reconstruction using an original. The cords appear original, the Kolpak (bag) someone made by hand, the ‘hair’ or whatever that is could be from an emu or anything. Feldzeichen is also homemade, chinscales appear new replacement parts, liner is also homemade from some...

    115th Hessen Pickelhaube question

There are a few things here to consider. The rollover from Neusilber and brass fittings to the M1915 steel fittings was introduced on 28 June 1915, with Bayern (Bavaria) also adopting the pattern on 11 Nov 1915. On 29 June 1915 soldiers did not wake up with shiny new M1915 helmets from the...

    UR 19 Ulanka

Thankfully I have no idea. One is a qualification, one is a graded award. It makes sense that a soldier would return from the shooting school with an awarded marksmanship cord?

    M49 Hessian

Something to consider; in 1849 Hesse soldiers did not all wake up to a new 1849 pattern helmet. It would have taken years. What was the next model for Hesse, the 1860? So Amy’s helmet hypothetically could have been made in 1859. “Model” indicates a range of production. X year to X year. When...

Zeb it’s my understanding that Garde Pionier wore gilt chinscales. Not silver.
