Doesn't get much better than that! Congrats Dane - and good on you Doug! 😺

Kaiser Alexander Garde Grenadier officers miter for the Grenadier Batl

That's an extraordinary image - and gives you some idea of how well-heeled these guys had to be. Head to toe, that's an incredibly expensive outfit for the era (and for collectors now, of course).

Kaiser Alexander Garde Grenadier officers miter for the Grenadier Batl

Now that is a mitre collection 😺 I doubt there is a better, more extensive group anywhere, Steve. Now add the 1GRzF mitres!

20th Württemberg Ulan Tschapka to Parade

Price drop to $5000 USD, before moving to other venues. 😺

20th Württemberg Ulan Tschapka to Parade

Thanks Bruno. Yes, it's unusual - I've only seen it on the more delicate plates, like the very occasional Württemberg. Hessians can be weird that way too (so many pierced parts of the plate I guess?). I've seen at least a few with three to four screw posts.

    1. Garde-Dragoner-Regiment

Vizewachtmeister of 1. Garde-Dragoner-Regiment Königin Viktoria von Großbritannien und Irland. Carrying an officer-garde lionhead sabre and proudly displaying the formidable third-class lance proficiency chevrons. An imposing senior cavalry NCO.

    Fort de la Pompelle

Holy cow Tony - what a display. Someday I hope to get there, but until then thanks for the outstanding set of photos!

20th Württemberg Ulan Tschapka to Parade

Officers’s Tschapka of Ulanen-Regiment König Wilhelm I (2. Württembergisches) Nr.20, with parade busche and rabatte. Very good condition Tschapka, with excellent and rare parade fittings. No extra holes, officer brown silk liner (with signs of wear, and evidence our guy favored hair pomade) and...

Prussian reserve officers Haub with parade bush and case

Seconding Steve and Tony. I'd also expect to see the small eagle/shield on a helmet like this one. "Das Deutsche Heer" by Knotel and Pietsch doesn't indicate the parade busch for any Beamte aside from the most senior of officers, so that might be a fantasy. I'm also curious is one could be a...

    Kaiserliche Marine?

Is anyone aware of a book along the lines of the Verlag Militaria works covering the Kaiserliche Marine? I have plenty of general uniform references and plates, but looking for something with images of original pieces (headgear in particular). Thanks in advance.

    GK and GdC helmets

I noticed that too - but coming from Germany, the price is distorted by the exchange rate (with the dollar much weaker than a year ago). So many fakes in this space too. I wonder what others thought about these two? The more expensive one seemed to have nice GKR markings, but my knowledge is...

    Kube Auktionen - US Members

I'm guessing they were considered items of value, and fell afoul of the recent repeal of the de minimis exemption? The recent suspension of postal service from most peer nations is based mostly on this sort of guesswork and lack of clarity. As Steve observed, a sign of the times sadly. We'll...
