WANTED: My Short but Elusive List...

I bought this one mistakenly thinking it was the 1868 helmet that replaced the kepi for IR 90 and I and III bttl of IR 89. The convex chin scales would make it dragoon rather than infantry. Again source material from the German infantry by Herr and Nguyen. Tony

WANTED: My Short but Elusive List...

Hi Steve, yes they had square front visors but only following an AE in Dec 1895. Initially they were rounded visors with the spike of six grooves and finished off with a small ball. This example has all these traits along with the convex chin scales and cruciform base for the spike. I attach...

Sold ; Austrian Berndorf helmet 1918 pattern.

Often called the 1918 Hungarian helmet this is a nice example of the Berndorf made late war helmet for Austrian ww1 troops. It has the bear stamp and size on the year skirt and original chin strap. I believe it has been refitted with a contemporary replacement liner possibly 1920's and may...

Bavarian Artillery 1866 and Bavarian Infantry 1896.

The two shots of the cabinet shows for comparison, the Bavarian 1866 helmet next to the 1887 new style Prussian Infantry helmet. Plus the 1896 version for Bavaria which was very much based on the Prusian model of 1895.
