    SOS 2026

Wow! You have some very nice items! Thanks for sharing. I like the Model 1842 at the Regimentals UK table, but alas... ;) Ron

    Hessen Train Bn. Officer.

Here are some photos. I finally got to this today. The shelf above overlaps the acrylic panel and wood ends, once it's empty, the shelf is removed and a flat frosting knife is used to disengage the wood pins from the sides of the shelving unit. Then, the clear panel can be removed (both sides...

It's all from 'stuff' laying around the house. The acrylic sheet and oak trim were from another project. The oak ends are dado grooved and sprung to keep tension on the acrylic, then pins fit them into the holes in the side of the shelving unit. The lip of the upper shelf overlaps them and helps...

Thanks! The KR6 is one of my favorites. I wanted one since I was in 3rd grade... it only took 40 years to get one. ;)

I think it looks pretty good on the top shelf. I'm going to swap it out with the Prussian artillery helmet at some point, so it's 'behind glass' (actually acrylic). ;)

    AOK 'Going to Shows' Photo

Did everybody see the "Short Break - Attending Shows' photo on the Age of Kings front page? (Scroll down on the page) It looks like they're ALL officer headgear! (jealous face). Here's the link. Worth a look around as well. ;) https://www.ageofkingsmilitaria.com/ Ron

Thanks so much! I have learned a LOT from you. My first Hessen and my only Train Battalion. I can't argue with that! Cheers! Ron

    Officer Shako reversible uberzug

Nice! I have reversible covers for one with a spike and one for a Kugelhelm, but none for a Shako, so that's one I've not seen before.

    Hessen Train Bn. Officer.

Thank you all for your kind words, photos and input. Since both Hessen Infantry and Train officers had convex chinscales, is there a way to tell them apart that I'm not aware of? Cheers! Ron

I really don't know if it's silk or satin. Is there a way to tell? Here's a close-up. To me, it looks satiny. But then, it's old... like me...

I'm sure everybody who shops Age of Kings has seen this helmet, which nobody wanted. I think what put people off was the honesty of Randy and Remi. They listed that the plate was 'altered' at some point, having two centrally located attachment holes and two outer ones without studs. That put me...

    Hermann November

When we visited Vornholz, the guide said they wanted to rehouse the collection in one of the former stables. Fact, or hearsay shared with him, I don't know, but the collection was impressive and beautiful. :D Ron

Nice helmet! I really do like AOK. Just paid for for one today, so waiting to get it. I'll post photos when it arrives. Ron

    Can this be original?

Take a look at the spike shape and memorize the authentic forms. The Merryweather fireman's helmet also looks to be a fake and I would guess the French one next to the Indiahaube is also a phony. Study originals before making a bad purchase. there are a LOT of good reference photos on this site.
