Well, I did mention it was a fake.

Wrote Goodwill (a second hand /charity auction site in the US) and told them this was a fake Pickelhaube. They removed it, then reposted it without stating it was a fake. So.... caveat emptor! $338 down the toilet for somebody! https://shopgoodwill.com/item/262102020

    Porcelain head

Looks good! Put your tongue on it. If it feels like glass, then the clay is vitrified and good. If your tongue 'sticks' to it, it is still porous and might leech moisture out of the liner. Cheers! Ron

Why Do I Collect this Stuff ?

I blame this illustration. I've always liked helmets (tanks, aircraft, ships, etc, but not much of a car enthusiast). Quite honestly, I can't say where it comes from. Maybe my dad's interest in history and documentaries, maybe my uncles who were veterans, maybe the M3A3 Stuart I played on as a...

I'm using Google Translate; I mean, it's an attic find. Attic in German, Dachboden?

    Saxon Cuirassier

Welcome! Nice looking helmet! If you're looking for parts, you might also want to post this in the Pickelhaube and Parts Wanted thread. Also, if you're using the styro wig-head for photoing, that's cool, but for display, those heads are pure poison to helmets, liners, etc. Cheers! Ron

Here is what I am allways after

When I was teaching mud (ceramics), I had a plaster mold that I could press, or pour, clay or slip into. I created a nice 'top of the head' in thin clay. Then, it could be glazed to create a 'glass' surface. I've used all I made, but wish I'd have made more!

    Wurt. M15

This is one I was never able to find, but have now, thanks to Gabe. It fills gap in my M15's, that I've been wanting to fill for years, so I'm very glad to be able to give this one a home.

    German model 18 tanker helmet

Super! Having been a tank enthusiast and tanker helmet collector, I can honestly say, THAT is quite a find! I've been fortunate as well, with two US 'infantry tanker' helmets, one is the more common Rawlings, in mint condition and the other is the very rare Sears Saddlery. Also, the M18 barely...

Prussian M15 Kuirassier metal helmet for sale. Lachmann maker with. correct spike

Well! Nice helmet! Personally, if I were going to actually wear one of the three Clovis showed, I'd take the middle one. ;) The Lachmann does have a unique shape to the cape. It might even been issued to some Kurassiers to improve posture. Cheers! Ron

    Fake or real

Hi, going to be a little humorous here. It is indeed a real helmet, just not an Imperial German Pickelhaube. As 'Bobted' said, welcome! Also, if it fits, it's a great piece for carnival or costume parties. You can try to sell it on eBay, as a theatrical helmet, but I think it would be more fun...

    Saxon EM cockades Disregard..

DISREGARD. I don't know how to delete the post, so it has to stay. Anybody have a set of Saxon non-serrated enlisted cockades, original or replica (stamped) you're willing to part with? Thanks, Ron
