EM helmet M1895 of the Infantry Regiment (1st Hanoverian) No. 74

Congratulations Sandy, A beautiful helmet and a very interesting post. As far as I know they were painted, we "recently" had a thread about that. Regards, Lars

    Parade plumes/ trichters

"Führer durch Heere und Flotte", by Friedag (the 1914 edition is digitized by Google) and the "Bekleidungsordnung" (at least the 1903 edition) are good contemporary sources wrt the Haarbusch.

    Restoration

Hi Bruno, Your doctoring skills exceed mine, much better readable now. Yes, I scrolled too far when checking the helmet Wappen for the KFGGR2 in the 1903 Bekleidungsordnung, so it looked ok but was in fact referring to Grenadier Regiment No. 2 and 3. Regards, Lars

    Restoration

With a little photoshopping I can clearly read "K.F." followed by most likely an "R", and according to https://pickelhauben.net/old-site/articles/Kammer_Marks.html this corresponds to Kaiser Franz-Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 2. EDIT: The Bekleidungsordnung from 1903 confirms that the Wappen for...

    Restoration

I see both 1901, 2nd battalion, and 1913, 8th company; I can’t decipher the regimental marking, but I’m sure there are others on the forum that can. Regards, Lars

    Thoughts on this skull

Hi, Without contemporary pictures showing this specific skull, or similar items with indisputable provenance in a collection (very rare), it will be impossible to say this skull belongs on a Braunschweig visor cap. There are a few Braunschweig skull experts on the forum, some already responded...

    French magazine Militaria nr 442-443

I bought the same Militaria Magazine e-magazine, and I'm very disappointed with the picture quality, looks like a lower resolution than the printed version. I will not buy any more of those, in comparison the Uniformes e-magazines have a much higher resolution. EDIT: the 100-page Militaria...

    Uniformes Magazine-Articles Jean-Louis LARCADE

They used to sell electronic copies of Uniformes Magazine issues on 1001mags, but the website seems to have disappeared. I really like them, as you can zoom in and see more detail than in the printed version.

    Mecklenburg plate

Hi, I’m no expert on this topic, but judging by the low quality I would say it is a reproduction. Regards, Lars

    German uniform

If someone would "age" those shoulder straps I would struggle to identify them as repros.

Where feldmütze were manufactured before 1914?

Hi Milosz, Very interesting. I posted a blue Feldmütze here some time ago https://www.pickelhaubes.com/xf/threads/feldmuetze-i-r-172-blau.16557/#post-115162, dated 1914, and that was also made in a Strafanstalt, in my case “Strafanstalt und Gefängniss Cassel-Wehlheiden”. I certainly believe...
