    M16 helmet

Hi, Congratulations, looks good to me, even though I'm no expert. Original shell with a lot of original colour remaining, 1917 steel ring liner with the correct cream-coloured chrome leather pads, held in place by the correct split pins (is the one at the back thicker than the other ones? hard...

A M95 artillerie haube is my latest addition.

Hi Coert, Fussartillerie is walking, so they have a vent. Regards, Lars EDIT: FAR means Feldartillerie 😀

    Looking for Trench Club/Mace info

Hi, Your intentions can be honest, but there are plenty out there who are not. An example of a fake I bought in the Somme region in France. I had my concerns about the originality due to the War Department arrow and the artisan grooves in the handle, but all the major and some of the minor...

    M15 Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 14

In most of the photographic methods available at the time red appears much darker than blue.

    Ostasiatisches Expeditionskorps 1903,Schutztruppen

That's quite a transformation. Scary to think that without the "before" pictures it would be hard to know just how much this piece has been messed with.

Rarest to most common German Stahlhelms of WW1

Hi, Welcome to the forum. Looks like a nice original "M16" Stahlhelm to me. Condition of the liner and the shell are similar, so probably never been tampered with / "improved" by a collector / dealer. The pins that hold the liner are correct, but the thicker pin should be at the back (so the...

    Felt saxon

The inside of the disk for the ball (visible on the picture of the inside of the helmet) seems to be painted grey, if that is true then I would think the whole helmet was grey at some point in time. However the paint looks nicely done, and painted grey metal also fits the grey / golden ball, so...

Prussian Artillery, new to the collection :)

According to the 1903 Bekleidungsordnung § 40 B the Feldartillerie didn't have the vent, so imo the Feldartillerie-Regiment 22 marking fits the helmet type. The Feldartillerie typically marked with "FAR", and there was no Fußartillerie-regiment 22 in 1905 (nor in 1914) :) Regards, Lars

    M18 Ear cut out

And visible in the background a shiny new M18 cut-out helmet, not yet processed to look old. RED FLAG

    Original or copy

In my eyes these look original, but what surprises me is the finish. With the voided crown I would say these are officer's Wappen, but the finish looks more like other ranks, painted rather than gilded. The process also seems more fitting for a Kammer item than a private purchase item. If the...

    Saxon 107.R.

Hi, I agree, but to me it doesn't seem to be stamped, rather that someone scratched the marking into the leather, compare the neat "107.R." stamp shown by Grabenmaxx to the stamp of the helmet in question. Hopefully I'm just seeing it wrong. Regards, Lars

    Saxon 107.R.

Congratulations on a nice looking helmet, However imo the regimental marking are scratched-in rather than stamped, which I'm a bit suspicious of. Regards, Lars

    Prussian M15

Nice helmet Brian, Looking forward to the restauration. The B.A. stamp looks like B.A. VII. to me, possibly B.A. VIII., which explains the Prussian Wappen. I have seen B.A. VII. use such a yellow stamp before. Interesting to see the PB 3 stamp on a helmet from a different corps. Regards, Lars

    Ottoman Uniforms

Very nice, I really like battlefield finds. All that I managed to find on my short visit to Gallipoli while touring Turkey was a cartridge case in the trenches opposite Johnston's Jolly :) C A C 10 13 = Colonial Ammunition Co., (Melbourne, AUS, or Auckland, NZ), Oct. 1913 Regards, Lars

    Insane letter/photo grouping

Congratulations Dane, What a wonderful grouping. You have letters / postcards, and pictures, and you can probably find his military records in the Bavarian archives online (not all records have survived), so you'll have the complete story. Regards, Lars
