Continuing on with this post on Loree's Folly and having publicly THANKED James for directing me to the auction where I succumbed to "collector fever!" :oops: All fittings must be cleaned to the same patina which leads us to dealing with the helmet spine..... The before photo showing 100+...

Very nice display. I still enjoy my own IR95 issued helmet that I was lucky enough to buy 30+ years ago. 👍

My good friend James who is also one of the moderators here has been very generous in giving me scrapper helmets for parts. He knows that I am always looking for these. Below is an example of one of the pieces that he gave me a few months back. I regard it as an example of "haube restoration"...

It's a miserable "rainy day" here so I got out my sonic cleaner : Loree's Folly 5th Garde zu Fuss wappen cleaned. One hundred years of "crud" removed! Look at the before photos above. Any small pink areas showing are where the nickel plate has worn off. This colouration will be removed by hand...

Wow! I have managed to collect 5 Hessen examples over decades of collecting. I will try and assemble a "group shot" to post here. :)
