I'm not an expert but I would assume the eagle is something like a pewter metal which is cast. Drilling holes in it and trying to reshape it with a dent puller method would utterly destroy it! If anything I think a tin solder would probably be the best bet to repair it. A couple of months ago...

Despite the cracks in the shell and visor and the small black eagle on the wappen, the helmet looks legit to me.

Even if it is a repo, I like it...! As a former tool and die worker, someone put some effort into that spike ....

Very interesting! I tried boiling Vulcan fiber paper once, but it essentially did nothing. I might try the heat gun in the future....!!

I'm sure some of you have seen this piece on Ebay Germany. Its a M15 Hohenfriedberg 1745 enlisted man kurassier helmet. After much discussion the seller finally agreed to post some pictures of the front and back of the helmet wappen. IMO it looks like there might be some significant rust...
