After looking at other examples of markings I'm pretty sure this is marked to the 2nd seebatallion 4th company

The chinstrap is old hardware with new leather and the cockade while original does not belong to the helmet. I think I made out pretty good on this one.

Am I correct in my assessment thats it's a transitional piece from the m1888? Also can anyone decipher that top mark?
