Hi, They both are Bavarian. On the left the old model M 1848 for Jäger-Bataillone. On the right the later model for Leutnant k.b. Jäger-Bataillon 10, which existed only from 1868 until 1878 and was then transformed to k.b. IR 17. Best wishes GardeUlan

    Curious wappen

Hi, This is the wappen/eagle for officers of a regiment from one of the smaller German states such as Anhalt, Brunswick, Saxe-Coburg or Saxe-Weimar. Here for comparison: https://www.weitze.net/militaria/Sachsen_Coburg_Gotha_38.html Since the star is missing, you cannot tell the exact...

    My Great-Great-Grandfather Wilhelm Wagner c1880

Great! My great-grandfather served in UR 2 and there in Ansbach he met his future wife, my great-grandmother 😃👍 Unfortunately my grandmother threw away his uniform in the 1950s. After WW 2 she wanted no longer to keep his old stuff. Later she apologized to me and said that she never had...

Question about officers and Royal liners.

Hi, I think you’re right. You can compare it with this cypher: https://www.hermann-historica.de/de/auctions/lot/id/531832 In 2022 some the headgear of Prince Alfons was put on sale in Munich. It belonged to our late member Adler, who sadly passed away. Kind regards, GardeUlan

    Two metalhelme

Thank you very much. That explains a lot. Personally I don’t like that book, as the helmets shown are almost all “over” restored. The auction is on Thursday in Germany. Unfortunately, many of the helmets have been reworked. I'm curious to see what results they achieve. Best wishes, GardeUlan

    The crazy war room

Great collection! Congratulations!!! Thank you especially for the M 43 officer’s Tschapka! It’s a dream come true. I remember Sergio Semino offering such a model (yellow/silver) together with its special box in 2002. Unfortunately I didn’t have the money. Best wishes, GardeUlan

    Hannoverian tales.

Hi Steve, Thank you! As Zeb wrote, this is a shako for officers of the Hanoverian Garde Jäger Battalion from around 1860, perhaps a little bit earlier. In the middle an 8-rayed star, in the center St. George slaying the dragon, with the motto "Numquam Retrorsum" (Never Back). A black hair...
