Has anyone ever seen this Stahlhelm insignia?

I’m in that group. The gentleman has an amazing collection of camos. He said this is wartime period since the black line next to the emblem was painted over it. Also, there’s another helmet that has this exact emblem painted with a camouflage pattern

    New M18 helmet

Yeah, I ment as in NEW to my collection.

    New M18 helmet

A helmet I was sorely lacking in my collection, this M18 helmet made by Hermann Weissenburger, purchased straight out of the SOS. Other than the missing half of the chinstrap and some paint loss, this helmet is in excellent condition. Helmet pads are in excellent shape; the liner retains its...

Not specifically. I heard he was from England who wanted to sell his items quickly.

I know who bought this and he lives practically next door to me! I’ll be seeing him in a couple of weekends hopefully and see this remarkable haube

Ah I see now! That a very interesting variant.

    Yes I love ersatz pichelhaube.

What a trio! Is the one on the bottom left a steel one?

    My Ersatz collection

You have there a paper/cardboard ersatz pickelhuabe. It is paper and/or cardboard that’s been mixed with glue into a pulp, then shaped and painted over into a haube. They are my favorite ones to collect and I intend to make a separate thread about them soon. Here’s one example I own:

    My Ersatz collection

My only felt haube in my collection so far. This Baden one is about as simple as they come by. Whats interesting about this one is something has happened or has been applied to the leather where it has completely stiffened the whole chinstrap. This chinstrap is not going anywhere. The state...

    Cabinet upgrade!

What a birthday gift for me! What started as a hunt for a new case for all of my allied helmets turned into a new case for all of my German helmets. Looking forward to adding some additions in it! My previous case The upgrade!

A question about this guards Stahlhelm

Hey guys. I bought this helmet a few years practically on a whim. I was on a guards helmet kick back then and thought I found a gem. Unfortunately at the time I was going at collecting alone and had little actual knowledge about what to look out for when collecting for helmets in general (I was...

    The best of the year.

Kinda cheating here, but I didn’t have just one catch the past year, but two: 2 clothed covered ersatz picklehauben

    M15 Mecklenberg Sterlitz????

So you’re the lucky recipient! Glad it’s going to a member of this site

    My Ersatz collection

Lastly, there’s some interesting info that was scratched into the underside of the front visor. I’m not sure whether this belonged to the soldier who wore this, or this was from a previous owner/collector

    My Ersatz collection

A look underneath the pickelhaube. The liner is in pretty good shape with its leather drawstring still attached. The liner has a very faint stamp of 56, which is corroborated with another 56 stamp outside the pickelhaube, covered by the spike base. Notice that the prongs from the fasteners are...

    My Ersatz collection

This ersatz variation has two rivets in the front and back of the helmet that, along with the chinstrap posts, hold the liner in place. Although similar looking to the rivets of a stahlhelm, the prongs on these are noticeably longer and thinner

    My Ersatz collection

Here is my other metal ersatz pickelhaube; a simple one piece one made for a Württemberg soldier. I’m not sure which exact metal this is made of. This does have a bead that surrounds the circumference underneath the pickelhaube
