    Dry Cracks on Pickelhaube

Usually, this phemonenum is called spidering on these haubes. Quite common to see it, after all those years. I agree with Brian, some shoepolish would sort this out/ make it less visible. Some of my helmets have this too.

Why Do I Collect this Stuff ?

You are certainly not really the only one, who's really missing Steve, so do I. When I joined up here, he told me so much, I learned a lot from him, also way after my first joining up. And I'm, like you, certainly not the ony one.

Why Do I Collect this Stuff ?

I agree, especially on the learning of other people about these helmets, medals and such, also about WW1 history. I am also a motorcycle rider, and a member of a forum dedicated to them. Sometimes when a fellow member comes to visit me for spare parts, which I have a lot of, they are amazed by...

Why Do I Collect this Stuff ?

Indeed we are. I see us collectors like curators, caring for them, so they will be everlasting collecting objects when we are long gone.

Thank you for downgrading the collection community, to a state/group of mental cases. ;)

    Prussian See Battalion Tschako

Excellent work again Brian! This tschako is just like it was, when being issued! A first for me too, a Seebattallion shako in neusilber. Fine workmanship, a trade long gone, but not with Brian at the wheel/needles! :) 👍

    Helmet Garde Cuirassier 3 Eskadron

If it would come for sale, I'd be a buyer. Would take a while to find all of the parts needed, but I have the time. Regards, Coert.

Brotherhood the cloth covered Ersatz helmets

Why Do I Collect this Stuff ?

I agree, it is in fact an addiction, collecting, then again, I won't let it get the better of me, so I couldn't pay my bills though. I have, like so many others, gone through quite heavy times in the '80's, when work was difficult to get, I just took whatever job I could get, even way below my...

Brotherhood the cloth covered Ersatz helmets

Wow, thats indeed a nice collection, but also a lot of space! At the moment I have 20 pickelhaubes, 10 Adrian helmets, an m1917 english helmet, M16 german, and a Dutch M33 helmet, but all in my livingroom. And space left too.
