28 Regiment Von Goeben Shoulder Strap

My opinion is that the best way to display a helmet is with an appropriate shoulder strap, or shoulder board for officers. This looks great Peter but be warned……One strap can turn into 100….

    Reproduction Hessian Officer Cockade Wanted

Ron it is your lucky day. On a Hessen helmet here, I don’t trust the officer Kokarde. I would rather have none than have a copy. Which means I’m still looking for an issue pattern Hessen Kokarde. If you like, I can mail it to you. Consider it a gift from Canada no cost.

Something French and something very expensive

Your photography is excellent. Very interesting background. That is absolutely perfect for old helmet photos. Well done!

    GDC

Honestly, I look forward more to the photos. I know the helmet is always going to be a jaw dropper. But the photos! Always superb!

SOLD 88th (Nassau) Infantry Regiment Wappen

Amy Bruno, your examples are one piece stampings which would’ve been the production runs. Very nice! The one being offered is probably from when the honour was effected and the Bandeau added. I’ve suggested before that Regts. must have had multiple boxes of little Bandeau to solder onto the...

    UNITED STATES IMPORT EXPORT DEVELOPMENTS

Actually Brian you have an incoming helmet sitting right there in Barrie Ontario at the Canada Post Office. And there it will sit.

    JzP 8 "Von Waldersee"

This looks like something that was done in our time, by an over enthusiastic collector or seller. Countless items have been bitched-up to sell. German flight badge fiascos for example. It doesn’t detract your nice Metalhelm, you were most fortunate! I would treat it like a collector’s name...

    Saxon Off. pickelhaubes (3 rd)

What draws my eyes is that the spike base is dented, but the lacquer is intact. How does that happen?

Prussian reserve officers Haub with parade bush and case

Hang on. Plume is added, ok. But remove plume and that is a nice pre 1905 Beamte helmet if you accept Dragoner Officer Helmet + Preussen eagle (usually) means Beamte. But for that money, and still need an officer’s spike? Edit. Glenn please keep the factual information coming. We all benefit of...

Prussian reserve officers Haub with parade bush and case

For starters don’t be blinded by how nice it looks, focus on what it is. You have a Dragoner officer style helmet with cruciform spike base and squared front visor. Those features combined with Preussen Line eagle would indicate that it is a military Beamte helmet. Beamte are fascinating helmets...

Guard eagle original or a copy?

Like many others I’m sure, I went scurrying off to look at my Garde eagles and look what I found. Center, third one up. Private Purchase with voided crown, perfect stamping front and rear. Nothing wrong at all. But the scrolls go down. I was very surprised, but I’m not the least bit concerned.

Guard eagle original or a copy?

Very nice Kris. There might have been some copies made in the 60s or whatever, but your example is a high-quality stamping with a beautiful Garde star. Nothing wrong with that eagle.

    Bayern Tschapka

If you can post a photo of that from the side, I will bet that the back is straight from the front visor. Many fraudulent Tschapka are made from spiked helmets so the back does not curve down. It is straight. Original Tschapka on the rear follow the shape of the skull downward, which...

Something about the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg

Zeb why do you say 1870? Looks to be 1860. It’s a beautiful Dragoner helmet.

    Hesse Pickelhaube for sale

Hang on, the absolute easiest restoration to make on a helmet is the rear visor. Common part to find and the neck spine shouldn’t be too hard to find either. That could be a beautiful little helmet with those two parts easily replaced.
