My opinion is that the best way to display a helmet is with an appropriate shoulder strap, or shoulder board for officers. This looks great Peter but be warned……One strap can turn into 100….

For starters don’t be blinded by how nice it looks, focus on what it is. You have a Dragoner officer style helmet with cruciform spike base and squared front visor. Those features combined with Preussen Line eagle would indicate that it is a military Beamte helmet. Beamte are fascinating helmets...

Like many others I’m sure, I went scurrying off to look at my Garde eagles and look what I found. Center, third one up. Private Purchase with voided crown, perfect stamping front and rear. Nothing wrong at all. But the scrolls go down. I was very surprised, but I’m not the least bit concerned.

If you can post a photo of that from the side, I will bet that the back is straight from the front visor. Many fraudulent Tschapka are made from spiked helmets so the back does not curve down. It is straight. Original Tschapka on the rear follow the shape of the skull downward, which...

Hang on, the absolute easiest restoration to make on a helmet is the rear visor. Common part to find and the neck spine shouldn’t be too hard to find either. That could be a beautiful little helmet with those two parts easily replaced.
