John, presumably he did recover. According to Verlustliste 60 of 2 October 1914, he was "lightly" wounded. He was promoted to Rittmeister der Reserve effective 1 October 1914. He survived the war and was granted permission to wear the uniform of HR 13 per order 22 November 1922. Regards Glenn
