Alan: Re. #1 - That would be a bit tricky. Perhaps use of a burnishing tool could create the small flange? #2 - That's a real concern. Especially given that you'd have to do multiple reaming operations to get to the required diameter. I've never tried it.

A very nice Private Purchase M91 helmet. I like the fact that it has the old Perlring on the spike. The Wappen is particularly nice. Unfortunate that the antlers are missing which is all too common on Wurttemburg helmets.

Yes. I was thinking the same thing. I've never encountered that surname before. I also thought it odd that there are no markings on it. It could be a private purchase, but it doesn't look any different from an issued helmet.
