    Unusual little spike base

This was bought online in the hope it was for a Dragoner - it wasn't. The size of the crossbase is vastly too small to be a Dragoner of any persuasion with three legs 5.5cm long and the front leg at 4.5cm (measuring from the outer circumference of the spike tube). It also has six vent holes and...

M95 Dragoner saved from the scrap

I posted this poor wreck some years ago when Bruno (much missed here) gave me some advice and wished me luck in a major uphill struggle to restore it. I won't list all it's faults, it's easier to say what was right with it - the shell is still in good shape with not much lacquer loss and...

Re-leathering a British Blue Cloth chinstrap

15th Lancashire Artillery Volunteers 1860-1880 I finally got round to constructing a new leather liner for the chin chains of the helmet I acquired some time ago and here are the results - with the help of several other people, many of them here. The chains were completely bare when I found it...

Any pipe smokers out there - so not you Amy!

I happily smoked Sobranie Reserve Blend (the blue tin) for many years until they sold out and finally disappeared over twenty years ago and been looking for a clone/substitute ever since. I know it's bad for you but at my advanced age I think I am entitled to just one vice! I know I'll never...

    Looking for EM Kokarden

Bit of a reach I know, but someone may have what I need (hope, hope). Looking for one serrated and one non-serrated Reichs kokarde with notch and a similar Saxon to complete two projects. Condition not that important, anything welcome. Merry Christmas All, !!

How the Parade bullion sash was fastened/worn?

The Prussian one I have fastens with a nickelled 'hook/loop' fitting, producing an 'excess' on one side which doesn't seem to have any logical place to go. Is this supposed to be covered with a separate sleeve, to cover it at the buckle fitting? If so mine has been lost.

    M95 Waterloo wappen - SOLD

This is a wappen I originally bought from Tony, hence the quote above as I am sure I cannot improve upon his photographs or description. Now for sale at the same price I paid for it : $300 or, to be more specific, the equivalent £235 as I am in the UK. Would appreciate Paypal F&F plus postage...

How to quote another post in mine?

I have been playing around with the 'Quote' tool icon trying to quote an older post into one of my own and failed magnificently on all fronts. Am I even using the correct tool? Obviously I am doing something/not doing something that everyone else seems to have worked out, Can anyone walk me...

Does anyone recall member MART VEAR

Does anyone recall member MART VEAR, know where he may be or know how I could contact him. ? He found a tooling supplier for the small scale manufacture of screws and nuts in the original thread types for Wappens and Spikes back in 2010 and I would dearly like to consult him. Thanks Steve

Upper part of silver Officer spike wanted

Looking for a silver/'silvered' upper portion only of an Officers spike - NOT necessarily an unscrewable version and not looking for the best finish so long as there are no dents. The base I have is only plated and not in great condition hence the surface finish is not critical. thanks all, Steve

    Saxon M`15 Wappen -PRICE CHANGE

Some pieces I know I won't be needing, postage will depend on location of buyer and I will advise that before sending (UK postal charges are just horrible). First a Saxon M15 Wappen in very fine, almost untouched condition, both loops strong and undamaged, Osange marked. The star has a clipped...

Coronation Tailors: Fit for a King

An interesting BBC program investigating the making of the new uniforms to be used in the coronation of King Charles lll, currently listed in the 'most popular' category of the BBC iPlayer. Easily found online. Also includes a segment from Firmins of Birmingham, and an interview with one of the...

    Sunken tops

I needed something to pop out a sunken top on an M95 that I am quite attached to - but without hydrating the complete helmet as the old finish may be scarred and scratched but it is solid and I saw no sense in needlessly overexposing it to moisture. Also, from the inside, I did not want to risk...

    Single Star Bolt wanted

Looking for a single star bolt/nut or perhaps one with brads to complete a set of three. Condition not very important as the existing three have lost all their gilding. Problem: size is 22mm across the star - never seen any of this size advertised anywhere. Regards, Steve

    NOS Visor trim

Unlike a lot of eBay stuff, this looks like it could be the real deal : New Old Stock Visor trim, reputedly from an old Sewing shop? Not a recommendation but perhaps worth a look if you need a visor repair. Item number 165898539702 on eBay.de Steve

    My other KD89's.

I believe these were produced in France from seized War reparations munitions - I have seen cast brass bases of this pattern on French oil lamps. They used to turn up quite regularly in shows but pretty hard to find these days. And yes, they are still in fairly regular use!

    16th Hanover Dragoon KD89

Had this on my wall for quite some time and still like it despite some plating losses. I would really like a scabbard for it if anyone knows of one that would take an 83.5cm blade? Regards to all, Steve.
