    My SOS Purchases

I have never bought a complete helmet for my collection at the SOS. Being Canadian, I am always hindered by the fact that the $CN is always at least 20-30% less than Uncle Sam's buck. However, what I am always looking for are parts and helmets that need a little restoration so that they can be...

    Another Bavarian Schirmmutze

A second visor cap has arrived for repair: At first glance, this does not look too bad. The inside reveals the problems. No surprise, some previous owner has messed with this. More to come.

    J R 111

I am doing a visor restitch (both) on an M15 Baden haube at the moment. It has interesting regt. markings which we rarely see on an M15, at least in my experience. The painted Regt. Number and date is usually associated with older pre M15 helmets. The helmet also has the correct ink stamped...

Prussian OR Tschapka Wappen With Extra Solder

This discussion was begun in a different thread by Sandy. However, as it concerns wappen, I am posting my example here. Sandy came up with a Prussian regulation which stated that the OR tschapka wappen should be reinforced. on the reverse with solder. I had never heard of this before but Tony S...

    Another Example of Prussian Frugality/Expediency

If you collect long enough, you are bound to see helmets which have been "Reworked/Repaired" and reissued. The Prussians were famous for this. Anything that could be repaired was fixed. So here, I am posting a couple of photos showing how pre war visors were stitched back on to other helmets...

    Pre 1897 Prussian NCO

I got this helmet about a month ago, it is a nice example of a pre 1897 NCO private purchase piece. Note, that as a pre 1897 piece, it has only a single Prussian NCO kokarde. The flat M91 style chin scales are in excellent condition as is the liner. Note: an economy model with unlined visors.

First, a welcome to all present and future new "haube" collectors. To my mind, there is also a second...

    Two Interesting Photos

Here are a couple of interesting photos from my collection. The RIR 100 is a recent purchase while the Garde Landwehr drummer I have had for many years. The photo shows what appears to be two types of uberzug being worn…stenciled and the typical cloth numbers. As usual the senior NCO’s stand in...

    Unique Felt Prussian Officer Helmet

Another project sent to me by one of our members. As the title suggests, this is a different sort of officer haube, at least in my experience. I have seen felt officer helmets before but usually with a black interior. This also comes with a rare tin cruciform support system on the inside of the...

    Prussian Garde M15

A recent purchase here in Canada and my thanks to Peter B. for alerting me to the listing. (y) Original chin strap although repaired on one side. Kokarden are also original. The wappen would appear at first glance, to be the usual slightly rusted M15. However, there are some hidden surprises...

    Garde Shako with Measles!!

A second project underway which belongs to James. Here we have a Garde shako needing both visors restitched plus a bad case of measles.
