Would be nice if it was that, I don't see anything separating the numbers but could be nice. Thanks for your help

M1907 Feldmütze RIR 86*, latest find!

Yes, on edit 2 I said I looked at it with a magnifying glass and natural lighting and it was an 86, so it's indeed from that regiment.

M1907 Feldmütze RIR 86*, latest find!

Thanks for your words! It could be an 88 or an 86 as it's faded, but the 86 fits too, interesting info. I'd love to track the owner but I cannot read it in person either. If you want I can make another pic of it but I doubt we will be able to read it. There's what looks to be the name and...

Thank you very much, I really liked researching it and you are right, it's a "B" not an "R".

M1907 Feldmütze RIR 86*, latest find!

During 1914, that regiment, which was part of the 21. Reserve-Division, saw combat in the Battle of Neufchàteau, the Mosa, the Ardennes, the Marne, Champagne and Argonne. Here you can read an account written by Hugo Birkner, a member of the unit, about the regiment's mobilization from Hanau...

M1907 Feldmütze RIR 86*, latest find!

The national kokarde has the correct vertical stitching and the prussian Landsturm kokarde is missing the small iron cross. It has four stamps on the inside. First one is marked "BA IX" which stands for Bekliedungsamt (clothing depot) of the IX Armee-Korps, and is dated 1909. Next stamp is...

M1907 Feldmütze RIR 86*, latest find!

Hello everyone, this is my first feldgrau Feldmütze, which I bought two days ago for 180 USD and I'm really happy with my purchase. This is a classic imperial german infanterie M1907 Feldmütze/Krätzchen garrison cap, which was later used by the Landsturm reserve units for the 1914 mobilization...

    Dunkelblau OR *Tellermütze

Thanks for your replies. I think that resold is more plausible, because while it could've used in theaters at some point, the size-change and sweatband are done in a way for it to be kept in use (has signals of wear after size-change too), not what I'd see on something that just needs to look...

    Dunkelblau OR *Tellermütze

I've been looking at other private-purchase Dunkelblau Tellermützen and they all look very similar to mine. One detail that I noticed, was that the "repair" on my cap, was actually a size-change to make it bigger. The cap originally must have had typical lining of these caps, but then was...

    Dunkelblau OR *Tellermütze

Thank you very much for your help! I noticed the same about the over-hanging part (compared it to a M1907)

    Dunkelblau OR *Tellermütze

Thanks for your fast reply, but do you have more explanation as to why you think that? Because it has no traces of ever having a visor (could it be a teller?), neither of having a different liner (like those on Schirmmützen), quality and usage also differ (it can't be seen well on my picture but...

    Garde M16 Helmet Surprise

Hello! A few months ago I bought an M16 helmet from the USA. It was a normal one, ET62, without liner, and was cracked on the top, but had some period paint left, so I liked it. When it arrived, and I was inspecting it I discovered the remains of a painted decal on it's left side. It was a...

    Dunkelblau OR *Tellermütze

Hello and sorry for the lack of activity. Also thanks to Tony for answering me on my previous cap post (which I didn't answer but saw). I bought this Dunkelblau OR Feldmütze a few days ago for 200 USD, and I decided to share it since I haven't seen much Dunkelblau Infanterie OR caps out there...

    Tellermütze for Artillery/Verkehrstruppen/Pioneer

Hello, got this one recently. It's my first piece of Imperial headgear, and my first topic on this forum. I would like some help regarding it's originality, because the person who gave it to me had some doubts...
