    Prussian Felt Ersatz

My latest find and a bit of an enigma. The label has it made by "Abteilung Berthold Lissner Guben" from what I can see and that seems to be a hat maker in Berlin. It is hard felt, looks period, and the Wappen and Spike Base look like they belong together. It has one brass grommet and brass...

    Bavarian Wappen

Just bought this Bavarian Reserve Wappen and have a few questions. It seems a bit larger than normal from what I can see compared to my others. Don't have it in hand yet. It has the strange extra bits at the bottom of the scroll next to the Treue. Thoughts? Peter P.S. Just realized I...

    New Prussian Artillery

Just picked up my latest pickelhaube today. Did not have much time to play with it as I had to head to the airport right after I got it. So far I love it. I believe it's another pre-1880s helmet given the liner type and the wappen being fastened with screws. Exciting but maddening is the...

    M16 Guard

Opinions. Looks like an obvious repaint to me. That said, think it's worth about $440 USD? Peter

    Prussian Steel Pickelhaube

I just ordered this helmet and am really excited to get my first metal ersatz pickelhaube. I am hoping there is enough leather with those two loose pieces to repair the chin strap. I am pretty sure the kokarden are repo but everything else looks original. Some small dents but in pretty good...

Really Nice German WWI Tobacco Book

United States Sterling Silver Eagle Pin/Broach

https://www.pickelhaubes.com/xf/threads/united-states-silver-eagle-pin.16287/#post-112626 I posted this a while back trying to identify it. I have decided to sell it and use the money for something German. I thought I would offer it here first as our US friends might like it. It is Sterling...

    Help with Wound Badge

Just got this for $80 Canadian ($60 USD) and believe it to be a standard WWI black wound badge, although the seller listed it as Spanish Civil War. I doubt that as there is no swastika, unless there was some interim period when they were still issuing old wound badges? Any ideas? Thanks. Peter

    Thoughts on Metal Tschapka

I am close to buying this but as always I would like some opinions on authenticity. I am trying to get another picture of how the badge attaches. All opinions appreciated. Thanks. Peter

    Help with Markings

Can someone help identify this stamp/marking? Looks like 544:10. to me or 54 4: 10. Five might also be a six. Thanks. Peter

    Thoughts on this Hessen

In my mind it should not have stars. Hard to tell but looks like there might be other spike holes? Does the regimental stamp look legitimate? Also the bottom of the spike where it meets the base does not look rounded like so many other I have seen photos of. Thanks. Peter

    Help with Identification

I obtained this nice Hessen Medal Award certificate and am curious as to the background etc. of Kanonier Karl Binz (I think that's his name) from "Feldartillerie Regiments No 111". I could not find him in the Verlutslisten. Being retired Artillery myself I really like this certificate and...

    Maker's Mark - States

I just received a Pickelhaube that has the Alexander Dahl Helmfabrik –Barmen, Ritterhausen maker's mark and it has the wrong wappen on it. The grommet holes are very close together (5.5 cm or 2 1/8 inches) and Brian thinks that may indicate a Saxon or Bavarian Wappen. They are also very...

    Strange Prussian Officer - Update

Really strange one here. Seller describes as officer but many other ranks features such as the ersatz looking leather liner, lack of coloured visors, other ranks wappen etc. Looks like the wappen may have been changed and also (extra holes) looks like there might have been coloured cloth on...

    Advice on Hessen Pickelhaube

I saw this one for sale and right away was pretty sure the Wappen and Spike were repros. I did ask for extra photos (attached) and went back to the seller mentioning that it looks like a re-worked helmet. He asked if I could give him some specific so he could update his listing to make sure it...
