I saw that too. The seller probably heard that ALL Pickelhaube were leather. It looks like a nice example. Personally, I'd rather have a seller list and original as a repro, than a repro as and original. ;)

Nicely done, Brian! Do you know what may have caused the lines of indentations behind the plate? It almost looks like somebody jammed a cockade or something in there... but probably not. These conversions are interesting. I have a Grenadier helmet that was converted to accept the new Garde style...

If you can find a spike (even a repro), fix the finish a bit, you can use it as an Uberzug form. That's about it. IMHO.

I'm sure somebody will get back to you with value. Please keep the chinscales joined at the front. Putting them under the helmet like that can break or severely damage them. Thanks!

Oddly, it was my 2nd helmet for my collection, so I didn't know it was out of the ordinary.

I have an M15 Prussian artillery helmet with that. Odd 'pebble' finish on the inside.
