This type of saber was issued to all the English light cavalry regiments, including the King's German Legion, and was in use from about 1796 through Waterloo. It was also supplied to Prussia in the thousands starting in 1812 and was in common use by the Prussian light cavalry through Waterloo. You can see that the blade gets wider toward the tip, which helps in cutting the target. It was eventually replaced by the 1811 Blucher Saber, which was copied from it. This one was manufactured by Osborn and Gundy and has an English acceptance stamp on the blade.

Shown compared to the 1811 Blucher Saber (bottom), which is a close copy though much heavier.
