Basically a copy of the 1796 English Light Cavalry Saber, this would be the standard sword for the Prussian light cavalry until it was replaced by the 1852 Cavalry Saber. This one was made by Schnitzler & Kirschbaum and accepted into service in 1831. Originally marked to the 5th Uhlan Regiment, it was later marked to the 5th Landwehr Uhlan Regiment (same squadron and weapon number). Most of these went into a depot and were re-issued to Artillery and support units but this one still has the original cavalry marks.
