This would eventually replace the 1811 Blucher Saber and remain in general use until replaced by the KD89. It has a bell guard to provide hand protection and a much straighter blade than either the 1811 Blucher saber or the 1849 Guard Hussar Saber. This one has its original markings to the 15th Uhlan Regiment (matching on the scabbard). Accepted in 1866 and issued to the 15th Uhlan Regiment when they were integrated into the Prussian Army. The script G next to the makers mark indicates it is Gust-Stahl, cast steel.
