This sword was carried by the "1st garde regiment zu fuss"
There is also a helmet that bares the same crest as on the eagle
if i knew how to post a picture on this helmet i would ,somehow i keep failing on that

It's a Cavalry M1889 in about the poorest condition I have ever seen. Wouldn't even bring $200 at a show.

Neil is correct on the unit designation, IMO.
 
Each to their own I guess
I couldn't find a similar one in the UK in that condition for less than £450 GBP
And it was a JZP marked one I was looking for to go beside my JZP Pickelhaube
So for me
I'm happy with the price it went for..

Units numbered weapons, not just sabers, as a means of accounting their weapon inventory. Weapon No. XX was issued to trooper Y.
