Its called an Überrock. Worn only by commissioned officers.

Looks suspiciously like an actor (Alfred Möller?) in a post war film. Far, far too young to be a field officer in the Prussian Army!

Maybe he is Moller because it writes "Alfred Moller in Mein erlaucher Ahnherr" but the date is 1911 so Moller was an actor in 1911?

Yes it is a film »Mein erlauchter Ahnherr« September 1911 ...

But Alfred Moller was born in 1926 ...and the letter is dating 1912 and the post cart 1911...
