Guys, the seller does say it's a 'New Made Item'... 8-)

It is one nasty repro nevertheless...

If they're going to make repros, they should at least get the leather right; smooth side in, rough, lacquered side out. The hardware is pretty poorly made as well. All in all, I'd give it a D- compared to other repros.

"Copied exclusively from an IMA original sample making it easily the very best reproduction on the market today."

Compared to the multitudes of really bad ones out there, they might have something.

They've done a much better job copying the MP 40 machine pistol.

The main reason for reproductions is for re enactors to use them "in the field" this is a very good example for that porpose, and one would have to complement the makers for having made them enough different to be able to tell it from the real thing. Remember, a reproduction should not be able to pass for the real thing under any conditions.
I give this reproduction two thumbs up, for being close enough to represent the real thing, but not close enough to be mistaken for the real thing.

I was thinking it would make a good movie prop. Certainly better that those faked Hauben used on the second version of All Quiet On The Western Front.

Hey Brian,
I am sure that is the intention of this type of reproduction, with the centenial coming up, there will no doubt be films put together, and there will be a demand for such items. And then the producers can add the disclaimer that "no Pickelhauben were harmed in the filming of this movie".

AQWF version 2 featured the Kaiser with an enlisted helmet sans spine, plus
Ulanen with what appeared to be saplings for lances, Turkish Mausers, ad infinitum.

Yea pointy, I made note of those problems too. Pretty bad. I think that the haubes in the original movie from the 30's were real.

Yes, all sorts of original goodies were used. As the boys are headed to their barracks after being issued their uniforms,
it appears that the helmet Lew Ayres is carrying has private purchase style liner inside it. After his helmet spike is shot off later on, it seems he's wearing an M15 with the spike detached. Oddly, nobody else is wearing a spikeless helmet at the front, though.

Re-enactors have a 'ten foot rule'. If you can tell it's a repro from ten feet, then it's not good enough. This one would need an uberzug, otherwise it wouldn't pass the thirty foot rule.
I'm sorry, but it's bad, really bad. I'd rather spend a bit more and purchase from this guy: http://www.repro-online-shop.de/startseite.html
