A "Type A" core which is an actual 1870 Award cross. The ring has been re-soldered. This came in the grouping above that I bought last fall out of an antique shop. The rings on these "Type A" core crosses were originally soldered on only 1-side of the split ring where it attached to the frame, and they broke easily. Such was the case with this well worn example.

A rare original cloth & bullion, well-worn EK1 that came out of the antique shop grouping purchase from last fall.

210 years "Das Eiserne Kreuz" - The Iron Cross.

Unfortunately I greatly procrastinated with purchasing the 2-volume Iron Cross book set in English language version, and it is now long out of print and rarely comes up for sale. The 2-volume book set is now going for $350-$400+ when they do on occasion become available. I am surprised that Verlag Militaria has not reprinted them.

Wow very impressive collection !!
Any more info on the cross display stand ?
I have never seen that before.

The display photo stand is "D.R.G.M." & "935" silver marked on the folding stand on the back side of Iron Cross Photo holder.

I have seen a couple others over the years since I found this about 7 or 8 years ago.

Best Wishes,

Alan

Some great EK collections!

Here is the 1813 EKII (with a 1914 EK ribbon as a placeholder) I picked up at the SOS. 1815 issue. I also have an earlier example, and a couple of later examples. With a 1830s officer Epaulette from the "1. Garde-Ulanen (Landwehr) Kavallerie Regiment".

The 2-volume EK books by Dr. Wernitz are great! I am pretty sure they will not be reprinted.
