Hello,

As I don't know much about this: so I decided to come and ask the specialists !
I wonder if you could help me out with my questions on this Tschapka:
1. What's the meaning of the B&W Haarbush ? (Prussia-NCO)
2. What would be the correct colour of the ParadeRabatte (? Yellow?) I cannot make out on this picture if it is placed...
3. This seems to be a Mannschaften Fangschnur (White)...Do the Haarbush and the Fangschnurr match or is this combination wrong?
4. Was this combination OK for -for example- : a Gefreiter.

Thk you,
Khukri

Hello Khurki,

1. What's the meaning of the B&W Haarbush ? (Prussia-NCO)

Yes, Unteroffizier.

2. What would be the correct colour of the ParadeRabatte (? Yellow?)

Two Regiments wore that eagle Wappen, Garde-Ulanen-Regt. Nr.1
(Potsdam) who wore white, and Garde-Ulanen-Regt. Nr.3
(Potsdam) who wore yellow.

3. This seems to be a Mannschaften Fangschnur (White)...Do the Haarbush and the Fangschnurr match or is this combination wrong?

I am afraid they do not match. Chas here on the forum has a correct configuration for an NCO, 2nd GUR I believe, perhaps he will see this thread and post it. Tony

Hello Khukri:

This is the Tschapka to Parade Tony mentioned: private purchase with Prussian NCO Feldzeichen, Fangschnur, and Haarbusch.

I have a question regarding the B & W Haarbusch:

Herr Kube (Kube Auktionen) mailed me that the Haarbusch to my 3.GUR
Tschapka is a fake: he states that the white hair allways need to be on the top, the black hair at the base...

I don't question Herr Kube's expertise but I would like your opinion on this matter !

Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen,

Regards,
'Khukri'

Herr Kube is wrong. The configuration he mentions, white on black, is correct for officers:

The above example is also made of yak hair (exclusive to officer Büsche)

Black on white (yours and mine) are regulation for Unteroffiziere. These are made of horse hair.

The distinction is illustrated on page 141 of Die Formations und Uniformierungs-Geschichte des preußischen Heeres 1808 -1914, Band 2, by Paul Pietsch (once again, thanks to forum member reservist1 for enlightening me on this subject).

Chas.
