Guys,
I could purchase this one two weeks ago from an old french collection in Metz/Lothringen, through a good friend of mine living in Northern France.
RON, I know this kind of helmet is on your wish list... Please, don´t get jealous now!
The condition of this Württemberg M15 Haube is almost perfect. Leather shell shows absolutely no creasing at all. Cockades as well as chinstrap are original and homogeneous to this helmet. No double holes and wappen fits perfectly.
Only a maker mark in the shell (J.B. Eckard, Ulm a.d. Donau) with 1916, no regiment or BA marks, but....a beautiful owner name tag. Wearer was enlisted in the 12. Compagnie of the IR 125 (Stuttgart).
This unit fought the great part of 1915 on the eastern front (Poland, Russia, Serbia) and the regiment came back 1916 to the western front and fought at Ypern and in the Somme till September 1917. Then the regiment went on the Isonzo front.
Maybe Musketier Stark has been taken prisoner at this time, so his helmet remained in France???
Enjoy the picts!
