The above link tells you all you pretty much all you need to know about this haube and with many thanks to Tony for his world class site.

Hopefully what follows will add value to the collector by showing the model 1842 in "pieces".....

Part one shows the leather helmet with most of the brass work removed and the ingenious and craftsman finish to the Wappen and it's application onto the helmet.

The way the Wappen is attached to the helmet looks overly complicated :), but very nicely done.

Was it common with the hidden bolt to attach the eagle? I thought they were always soldered on from behind.
 
No idea to your question tbh. I am assuming that maybe not. I've never seen one like that before.
 
Nice posting Tony. Once you are aware that some had attachment bolts straight through and disguised on the front as a small feather, keep your eyes open for that. I have found you will see that very often on pre-1860 helmets if are looking for it. Very nice helmet. Not many have one of those.
