Thanks to the
Age of Kings I got this 1906 Grenadier Regt 12 helmet in today
This helmet dated 1906 carries the "old style " FWR eagle front plate
with the hard to find flat hook on scale chin straps
The helmet the last time that I looked is still on their site .
Her is the Age of Kings text about the helmet
Black lacquered helmet body in excellent condition with no crazing. Brass trim with Enlisted pattern Spike top that unscrews to adapt a trichter for parade. Beautiful "Old Regiments" (FWR) grenadier eagle front plate that is fixed through the original grometed holes. This regiment was awarded the large winged Prussian Eagle on the 16th of June 1913.

Gilt flat chinscales over M1891 posts with both original Cockades. Inside black dyed lining is complete and a little dirty. Helmet is beautifuly marked with the "Kammer Stempel" from 1906 "J.R.12" on one side of the back visor and "R.12 ....?" on the other side. A perfect exemple, never touched or cleaned.

Out of the woodwork or barn find as is said

I was very happy to get this helmet as I already had a G R 12 helmet with the new winged eagle
as Remy wrote up the "New Eagle " was awarded to the regiment on 16 .6. 1913
nice to have the two together
some of the photos posted are from the A o K site

Great helmet Steve!
I also saw this one on their site, I regularly look at helmets for sale by AOK.

Congratulations, the pair look great together!

Wow...really great helmet....and I learned another lesson on Grenadier eagles.......
Thanks
Giorgio
It seems that each regiment had a different date
for the eagle change
G R 1 ; 4 ; 7 & 9 have the special banners on their eagle plates

I have only ever seen one of these in person and that was at a pre covid SOS. Randy Trawnik bought at the show. If memory serves, it was a private purchase OYV. Perhaps this is the one you bought Amy??
