Tonight, at 02:10 hours German time, I will remember the 839 sailors of the SMS Pommern who remain on duty, still at sea.

In their memory, a family in Germany has shared a fascinating story of a message from the crew at the moment of death, to a former shipmate, 93 years ago tonight.

Hey Tony
It looks to me like Fritz was on a torpedo boat rather than a destroyer, I can not read all the note, as I have a difficult time reading off a monitor, if I could get a hard copy, I could transcribe most of ther note, but I suspect you have already done that

I believe the line in the article
u. ? ? der XII. Fl/
reads "v. engl. Zerst. der XII. FL./" meaning that the torpedo that sunk the Pommern was fired from an english destroyer of the XII. flotilla or fleet.

Great story!
