I had heard of the (late?) W. Aulke, but had never seen a catalog page.

Great......now I know fakes were out and about in 1977!! I had not even thought about collecting in that decade. No wonder I was an easy "mark" on a couple of occaisions in the early 1990's and got fooled. Those repro wappen would have had a nice patina to them by that time.
 
Fakes where even out before that date!
It all comes to the same story over and over again "know what you ar buying".
Thrust me I had my share of copy's as well!
At the latest militaria fair i went to,I overheard a dealer talking to someone about German TR FJ helmets, saying"the only way you can tell, these days, if a FJ helmet is right or wrong is by knowing the person who is selling it...!"
