Yes! Now you can own a official symbol of early 20th century German militarism!

I'm not even of German descent and I find that a bit insulting. Or... am I being over - sensitive?

Hi Ron,

I'm sure the context of it is just some ebay seller trying to sexy up their listing, a little verbal flourish.

But overall, I would totally agree that the pickelhaube is the pre-eminent symbol of Prussian militarism.

You can't deny that the Second Reich was a militaristic state and society.

Ask anyone with even a tiny bit of historical knowledge to draw you something about Germany in WW1, and they will give you a picture of a guy with a spike on the top of his hat.

All Allied propaganda posters during WW1 emphasised the pickelhaube: draw a raging bloodstained gorilla with a pickelhaube, and voila, you've just produced a recruitment poster for the Allies.
