A very nice pair of shoulder straps Luftschiffer Batl 2

Excellent condition and again something I have never seen before. Thanks for posting Steve.

Great photos
That has to be a very rare uniform
The epaulets could not have been worn for very long
as these units were formed late
and they stopped wearing them and went to the shoulder straps
Steve

This Batl was formed in 1911
as a Major he well could have the the Commander of the Batl
a Feldgrau pair from the S O S 2022
Steve
Steve, nice pair!
I have a quite similar pair - probably also unworn. I suspect this type of shoulder boars are very late (from the end of the war).
Best regards, Jens

Great pair
Mint condition
...
Steve,
nice stuff! The Major "set" I like! (y)

...
the Musicmeister has the wrong cypher ! It has Prussian colors in the tressa
Steve
... very nice - this is the "W II" from the Inf.-Rgt. 116, so you need the "WR II" from the IR145 - right!?
Thank you and best regrards, Jens

Correct but sometimes the tailor who puts together the shoulder straps
makes mistakes with the cyphers he uses .
Here is a classic example of a mistake a shoulder strap for a Royal ;
Bernard who was al suite to Garde Grenadier Regt 2 with the rank of
Col. General with the honorary rank of GFM
If you look close the Austrian cypher is correct
but the tailor made a mistake by placing a Russian crown over the cypher
and NOT the correct Austrian crown
SteveGGR 2 Bernhard.jpegGGR 2 Front.jpeg

... crazy - heavy mistake at such a high rank!
Thank you for showing! Best regards, Jens

The strap was worn .
Whoever got to it first removed it from the uniform
The back side of the straps still has some Feldgrau material
from when the strap was cut from the uniform .
Thies had the strap in his catalog
He called it GGR 1 which of course was a mistake
I guess that he was confused by the Russian crown
Der Rittermeister bought it
Then it was sold to a collector friend of mine Mike Kelso
I traded fro it from Mike
Steve

... ah ok - thank you Steve!

Back to the Modell 1915 of the Luftschiffer Batl. 2,
for the M15 officer straps there were different "color variants"
(probably also because of different manufacturers!?).

1) standart silver
2) green-gray
3) light brown-gray
4) very light gray-brown
5) dark-gray

Do you have any other "field gray" M15's?
Best regards, Jens

I meant to add that
the Wurttemberg pair is not regulation
it is not normal for the double underlay
but I like the pair

 ... wow... great stuff Steve - you must living in a musuem! How much is the entrance fee? ;)
The Major from the hessian Leib-Dragoner-Rgt. Nr.24 are rare, in 1917 they had to take off the chiffre.

Thank you for showing and best regards, Jens

the same cypher as G R 123
the underlay should be only red
but this pair has double underlay of red and yellow
not regulation
