There are countless battle pictures like this, and each one tells its gruesome story. According to the writer the picture shows dead english soldiers from a large offensive dated March, 21st 1918. This may be the opening day of operation Michael.

Thanks Robert. A brutal reminder of what war is really all about.

Having a few such pictures in my collection, I'm now dubious about some of the stories on their reverse, especially when you have two identical pictures, but the stated locations are hundreds of kilometres apart.

Reverse of this one states: "Engl. Schützengraben am Wegekreuz. Broodseine."
