Another Bavarian Dunkelblau Visor

Here is another Bavarian visor I've had for a few years

I'm always amazed at the different shapes / styles these came in and sometime struggle with dating them.

It is certainly different that the other one I posted a few weeks back ( https://www.pickelhaubes.com/xf/threads/dunkelblau-bavarian-visor.20404/ ). This one is flat like a pancake and a bit salty with some nips and wear but still solid.

I think it is pre 1897. I see no evidence of a Reichs Kokarden ever being applied but could be wrong

Any and all thoughts appreciated.

M

Oh that's a lovely old warhorse - lots of reasons to think its early, including the very low profile, the tiny snub visor, the early "sunflower" style cockade, and the 1880's/1890's style interior. The Bavarian blue gaberdine fabric is very nice. A beautiful cap esp. considering its age. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Jeff. And appreciate the additional color. Especially on the early style cockade.

Actually, another mistake on my part. Looking back to my notes, I actually only got this one last year at the Max show.
