Hi everyone,i found this piece about a few weeks ago. Had no idea what is was,but found it intriguing.... Showed it to a couple of collecters i know and they had ideas about it from grappling hook launcher too grenade launcher. But until know nobody could tell me what is or where it comes from. I don't know even if it is in the right place here posting it under WW1? And to make it very easy there are no stamps or maker marks to be found. So if anyone has any ideas on this feel free to let me know please.
Best regards,
Gelle

Reminds me of a bolt gun - Bolzenschussgerät. Is there any indication about this if you look into the front part (the hollow tube)?

Got a answer about this piece, just wanted to share it with you:

Hello,

Having studied your photos with our team,

one of whom says he has actually seen your "gun",

we have come to the following conclusion.

We believe that it is a grenade launcher, ca 1914-18.

Seeing the caliber (+/- 5 cm) probably for the british mills rifle launched grenade.

We believe that it was a battle field construction rather than a prototype,

others are known to have been built and used in the trenchs.

We don't believe it to have been a prototype as it would have carried markings of one type or another
