Typical Bavarian....white and blue kokarde, lions head chin scale bosses. Probably the Bavarian diamond pattern on the wappen shield if we could get a closer look at it. Rounded bead around the rim of the entire helmet, thin cruciform spike base. Probably some city police helme. I restitched the visors on a similar one this summer.

Looks like someone who used the ID "iowaboy" on the auction where this was available paid $680 for it. Is pickelhaubes.com member "iowa1111" the same person?

I presume the short wooden "trichter" & hair plume are bogus? It should have a spike instead?

What older model of Bavarian helmet is this?

I've provided photos below from the original auction site where this helmet was bought by "iowaboy".

All the Best,

Alan

With respect to the shell, emblem, cockades and chinscales, this appears to be an EM helmet for the Bavarian "Burgerwehr" (sort of people's militia) heavy cavalry, circa 1850.
Less sure about the top....

Kai Winkler has the same one for sale:

It is indeed what I thought, and the top appears to be original.
